Position DescriptionThe Regulatory Affairs Coordinator is responsible for the execution of the goals and objectives of the Regulatory Affairs program to include but not limited to: provide oversight of the AU Medical Center (AUMC), the AUMC Outpatient Clinics, and related areas to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as promulgated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC), The GA Department of Community Health, and other agencies/organizations with regulatory authority for the organization promote continuous survey readiness in support of patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance for medical center core accreditation, disease specific certifications, trauma center verification, and other accreditations, certifications, and/or verifications held or sought by the organization support of the various service lines in pursuit or maintenance of disease specific or related certifications, verifications, etc., e.g., Comprehensive Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center, etc.

Promote and monitor utilization of Joint Commission Resources Accreditation Manager Plus® (AMP®) software.

Successful annual submission of the Focused Standards Assessment (FSA) utilizing the AMP® software.

Periodic review of policy maintenance workflows, as needed, with recommendations for revisions and enhancements to the Augusta University Office of Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management assistance with contracted vendor oversight (delegation oversight), with particular attention to the quality metrics by which contractors are evaluated ongoing education of faculty and staff through the utilization of various readiness education tools, e.g., focused tracers, mock surveys, presentations, mentoring, etc.

Co-management of the monthly Patient Safety/The Joint Commission committee meeting (PS/TJC) to include preparation of the agenda, calculation of data and organization of presentations, distribution of minutes, and assignment of action plans and deliverables.

Active involvement in the planning and management of TJC and DCS announced and unannounced surveys including all pre-survey and post-survey activities, e.g., survey team and command center designs, Evidence of Standards Compliance (ESC) reports, and post-survey compliance audits active management of TJC complaints to include thorough investigations and timely submission of reports.Position RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.

Licensed to practice as Professional Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia or have an active Multi-State Registered Nurse Compact License.Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience working in a healthcare setting with a focus on regulatory compliance or quality.Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with ability to work well in a team environment requiring a high-degree of creativity and motivation.Knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma concepts.Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications to include Excel, Word, Visio, Power Point, and Outlook.Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize new software and web applications for data entry and report generation.Understanding of medical center departments interoperability to support patient care and operations.Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to work with a wide variety of staff.Strong command of medical terminology, disease processes, treatment protocols and/or clinical knowledge and understanding of patient care.Preferred RequirementsMaster’s Degree (nursing, law, health administration, business, law, etc.) completed or in process from an accredited college or university.Understanding of TJC, CMS, and related state, federal, and program specific standards to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance for accreditation, certification, and/or verification.Previous experience working in a Quality or related department in a healthcare setting.Previous experience as a Project Manager or working knowledge of Project Management conceptsWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
