Executive Leader (Director) Product Management –Supply Chain and Merchandising Systems (SC&M)

nnThe Executive Leader (Director) of Product Management for SC&M leads and develops a team of Senior Principal Product Managers in defining and advancing supply chain and merchandising solutions for the company including ordering, inventory management, food transformation, assortment planning, promotions, item management, and more.

The individual will lead his/her team in both defining the vision and measuring the effectiveness and success of the solution.

She/he is responsible for setting and executing the strategic direction across the entire portfolio.

This person is a Product Management expert who has developed, lead, and inspired teams to the highest standards of deliverables and collaborated effectively with end-users, customers, engineers, architects and senior leadership.nn nnTeam Leadership nn nnLeads and develops a team of highly specialized Senior Principal Product Managers. nn nnEnsures team objectives and activities align and support broader technology and organization-wide objectives. nn nnIdentifies and drives process improvement initiatives within his/her team as well as across the technology organization nn nnEnsures effective succession, replacement, and individual/team development within his/her team.  nn nnPlans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors significant project activities. nn nnDefines strategies to empower and equip his/her team to be effective in interactions with internal and external stakeholders. nn nnProduct Management nn nnContributes to and influences the long-range strategic planning for his/her portfolio as well as the broader technology function. nn nnIdentifies net new capabilities or architectural investments needed to support and accelerate expansion and partners with engineering technology services teams to ensure scalable and repeatable solutions are built nn nnDevelops supply chain and merchandising capabilities and technology product roadmaps spanning 3+ months to 3 years, including influencing Amazon and third-party vendor roadmaps to achieve goals. nn nnDrives the creation of business cases for all proposed roadmap initiatives, inclusive of detailed costs, ROI valuations, development of success metrics, and alignment to strategic company goals. nn nnManages the needs of senior stakeholders, including conducting executive leadership proposal or program reviews in the form of written Word documents, publishing post-launch metrics, and escalating to drive decision-making. nn nnDevelops deep, credible relationships with senior-level executives, both inside and outside current areas of responsibility. nn nnCreates mechanisms for receiving feedback and adjusting priorities to ensure the right customer, technology, and engineering outcomes. nn nnMonitors industry leaders and the competition for technical and process changes and advances. nn nnQualifications nn nnRequired: nn nn10+ years of relevant experience in business and product management nn nn5+ years leading highly functioning teams of skilled professionals nn nnMaster’s degree or higher in business, supply chain, or related field; MBA preferred  nn nn1+ years of experience extracting data using SQL nn nnStrategic technology planning and execution experience as well as policy development and maintenance nn nnAbility to effectively drive people, process, and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment nn nnExcellent oral and written communication skills.

This includes the ability to explain system concepts and technologies to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists, and the ability to sell ideas and processes internally at all levels and especially to senior leadership. nn nnStrong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions. nn nnStrengths in problem-solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline-driven work environment, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask nn nnExperience collaborating with engineering leadership to create an effective delivery organization nn nnExpert at creating “working backwards documents” and plans nn nnExperience effectively managing a portfolio of products and programs simultaneously  nn nnPreferred: nn nnPrevious experience at Amazon or Amazon subsidiary working on joint projects with Amazon preferred  nn nn5+ years implementing or using retail, supply chain, and merchandising systems preferred nn nnExperience within the large program delivery and grocery business areas a plus nn nnThis position is based in Austin; domestic relocation assistance is available. nn
