Rebate Manager


This is a Full-time position in Conway, AR posted June 3, 2021.

Job Description:

The PBM Supplemental Rebate Manager will work closely with the Drug Rebate Services Manager and the clinical pharmacy group in the processes and procedures of using supplemental rebate contract offers, clinical reviews, and financial analysis to inform PDL development and accurately invoice for supplemental rebates. They will be the primary point of contact for supplemental rebate negotiating or working with Medicaid rebate pools to provide the most clinically appropriate and cost-effective supplemental offers for our State customers.

Job functions:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Gainwell with drug manufacturers in performing supplemental rebate negotiations for drugs and DME supplies for our State customers. Negotiated supplemental rebates would be for multiple programs including FFS Medicaid, Managed Medicaid, ADAP, or other State specific programs.
  • Work with Medicaid rebate pools and consortiums as needed for State supplemental rebate contracting.
  • Perform cost analysis utilizing pricing, rebate information, and supplemental rebate offers in conjunction with the clinical drug class reviews to help inform PDL recommendations.
  • Assist clinical pharmacy group in presenting drug class and PDL reviews to State P&T and/or DUR Board meetings.
  • Work with drug rebate module product team to develop tools and system functionality required for managing a supplemental rebate program, providing supplemental URA calculations, and accurately invoicing for drug and DME supplemental rebates.
  • Create drug related financial analysis, trends, and forecast reports for State agencies.
  • Develop program for negotiating value-based agreements with drug manufacturers and presenting the details and operational functionality of those agreements with the State customer.
  • Provide ongoing review of newly added drug products from the weekly FDB file updates to identify adjustments to existing supplemental rebate contracts.
  • Manage all contract documents and communications with drug manufacturers as it relates to the supplemental rebate program.


  • Minimum of ten (7) years of experience in pharmacy management.
  • Minimum five (5) years of direct experience with supplemental rebate operations.
  • Detailed knowledge of Medicaid at the state and federal level.
  • Registered Pharmacist in the US or previous drug rebate experience.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Licensed pharmacist is preferred or previous supplemental rebate experience in the successful leadership of a corporate PBM operation
  • Ability to communicate succinctly and accurately in both written and verbal English in various group settings from individuals to large groups.
  • Strong leadership abilities which demonstrate proactive initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under stringent timelines.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve difficult logistic and processing issues.
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Proficient PC abilities (basic knowledge in MS Office), work organization, and problem resolution skills.

Proficient on multiple virtual communication platforms (Microsoft Teams, Skype, Zoom, etc.)
